How to automatically update the copyright year in Squarespace

Every year, in January, I see those reminders to update your copyright year on the footer of your website. Don’t get me wrong, I remind my clients, and I share that reminder on our socials too.

But this year I got thinking… “There’s got to be a way where the copyright year is automated!?”... And there is!

In this short and sweet video and article, I’m sharing a snippet of code that will automatically update the copyright year on your Squarespace website…

Heads up - I found this code from 3 different sources all within the same week, so I’m taking that as a sign to share the knowledge because let’s be honest, it’s not on everyone's radar to remember to update it!

The Video:

The code:

<center>
  <p>
    All Rights Reserved © <script>document.write(new Date().getFullYear())</script> by Your Business Name
  </p>
</center>

It’s important to mention you’ll need to use the Code Block to add the code and this is only available to subscribers on a business or commerce plan. Personal plans will need to upgrade.
